A Card Received

Wednesday, February 25th, 2009

I received a card yesterday from Sue Balchak. The theme of the card was a “B”. We are doing an alphabet swap.  I missed out on the A swap but got in on the B,C and hopefully D.  I love this card. Sue said B for Batiks.  That is a type of fabric. Very beautiful and colorful. I think you all will love this card as much as I do.

Thank you Sue.. I hope to be in future swaps with you.

A Very Smart Child

Wednesday, February 25th, 2009

This joke was on my Thrifty Tips for the day site. It made me think of Aunt Janice and myself.

Walking up to a department store’s fabric counter, a pretty girl asked: “I want to buy this material for a new dress. How much does it cost?”

“Only a kiss a yard, ” replied the smirking male clerk.

“That’s fine,” replied the girl. “I’ll take ten yards.”

With expectation and anticipation written all over his face, the clerk hurriedly measured out and wrapped the cloth, then held it out teasingly. The girl snapped up the package and pointed to a little old lady standing beside her.

“Grandma will pay the bill,” she smiled.

What I Worked On This Weekend.

Monday, February 23rd, 2009

I tried to get busy sewing this weekend. I have some postcard groups that I need to get the cards finished and off in the mail. Between sleeping and cleaning house I did manage to get some of the groups finished. Here are 3 cards of those groups.

Everything on this swap had to be green. I call it “How Many  UFO’s Do You Have?”

Worry Wednesday

Monday, February 16th, 2009

I always said I hate worry because it is the devil’s way of getting your mind off God and the good things from God. Well as you all know it is almost impossible not to worry about something. Those firey darts keep coming to you right and left. I know some days I am thinking about something every minute of the day.Never read any medical articles. If I do I have all the symptoms. Well yesterday I decided I would only worry one day a week. Wednesday. I created Worry Wednesday. When I start to think of something I think “it is not Wednesday.”  So far it has worked. I will let you know Wednesday if I have to “Take to the bed with the vapors from all the worry!”  I eventually plan to cancel Worry Wednesday’s and not have any worry days. This Wednesday will be perfect to start with. I went to the Dr. this week just for my yearly checkup with the Gastroenterologist and to get my Nexium prescription. Oh I got the prescription and a trip Wednesday for a colonoscopy and endoscopy all the same day. No concerns just routine! I may have to have a Worry Monday and Worry Tuesday this week. I HOPE NOT!  I AM NERVOUS!

What you can do with $10.00’s worth of sharpie’s and an understanding wife. Kid’s don’t try this at home!

I was on Sandy’s blog reading and enjoying it so much and there was a link to what a man did to his basement with a sharpie. I was as curious as a cat with a paper sack from the grocery store! Well I had to go there and see for myself and I am glad I did. This guy has talent plus I just love the neatness of the basement. Check out the above and enjoy it as well as I did.

Happy Valentine To Me! 2/14/2009 Cupid Draw Back Your Bow and Let Your Arrow Go.

Sunday, February 15th, 2009

Today I got home from my meeting at the guild. I noticed a note on the back door. First thought was who has been here and left a note? I then thought well that is strange because Gary has been here all day and then I said well probably he was in the back of the house and did not hear the knock at the door.  I proceeded to unload my car and when I walked up to the door I was greeted with the note.  I read it and knew I was at the right house!

Today was just full of surprises.

Handmade balloons.

Cupid came today and left all kinds of goodies while I was at the guild sewing and snapping photo’s of course! Oh and eating along with gossiping!! Kay made some good chili, Mary had a pasta salad that the pasta was heart shaped and Susannah had a heart cookie with icing. Durn I hate it I did not get pictures of that cookie. It was to cute and good.

MMMM Cupcakes, handmade, low sugar… Hey I can’t help it if Cupid is sweet , good cook and loves to leave notes on everything ! They were low sugar Devil’s Food, BUT AN ANGEL MADE THEM!

Back of my postcard that Cupid made. This was his first try..I was so impressed. He even used 3D embellishments for the stamps.  I really was impressed.

Front of the card. I just can’t begin to tell you how impressed I am with Cupid’s work. I wish he would join our postcard groups. I would love to get more cards from him. Don’t you all agree?

Froggie went a courting. Gary knows I love frogs and so did his father, Jack. Meet Jackson.  I can’t bear to put him outside so for now he will be standing at the back door greeting visitors. Ribbit!

Meet Patti. You can mash around the farm animals and she talks and sounds like the animals.  Yes I am still a child at heart.

This is the last post on this subject. I hope it was not so sweet that your teeth are hurting! I did not mean for it to be sickening and mushy. I just wanted everyone to share the Cupid with me.  Oh well, now I wonder what the Easter Bunny will leave. Hmmm.. Not far away!

This is the earliest she has been late yet! 2/14/09

Saturday, February 14th, 2009

There is a running joke at the guild on Saturday. We meet at 10. Janice shows up usually around 11:00 to 11:30.  We were shocked today when she showed up almost on time.  I saw her getting out of the car and I got the camera and I got Susannah to hold the clock up to prove that she was early.  I am sorry, we have become such a bad influence on Susannah. She will do almost anything we ask her to. Janice walked in to a standing ovation and a lot of clapping!!  YEA JANICE!!!

Here is Kay, Mary and Annette . Annette is in such deep thought about the kaleidoscope quilt that her mother Kay is making. This is Susannah’s family. Kay being the mother and the other two are the sisters. A very close family and so nice.

Kay’s beautiful block. She is using a Stack and Whack method.  Each block is cut out of the same fabric just as a different place each with exact repeats and when you sew them together you get so excited to see what they are going to look like. Our motto is get the ugliest fabric with the best repeats of the pattern and go for it..  It usually makes the best blocks.

Linda, the lady in red showing them the different ways to put a kaleidoscope quilt together.

Katherine and Susannah peeking over the sewing machines. They were very busy today. Katherine is working on a very beautiful spring double wedding ring quilt. Pastels and so pretty. Susannah has taken pages out of the phone book and is sewing a string quilt on the pages.  I am so impressed with her. She is so adorable and her work is very good. Better look out some of you award winners in Paducah and elsewhere..I see in the future some strong competition with Miss Susannah.
