One of the postcard exchange groups that I am in, has an alphabet theme going on. I missed out on the A but had “Beautiful Birds” for the B and C is for cats. The caption will read something like this. C is for Cats! Enjoying friendship, star gazing and loving the Mouse in the moon!

The weather in Alabama has been wonderful the last few days. 70 and 80 degrees.  Yesterday Gary and I worked in the yard until we could not anymore. Today we had a Chiropractor’s appointment and ate at Cracker Barrel.. It was good. When I got home I decided to check my mail and my sister- in- law had sent one of those things to forward to this one or that one to get whatever and  I decided to host my own.    Enter my giveaway below in the March Give Away and you will have great luck following you.. I have had major computer problems for the last two days. I have been in withdrawals. Something happened to my Dell and it had to be restored back to the factory settings.  I cringed because I had hundreds of pictures loaded but thank goodness I was smart enough a few months ago to order something on QVC and that is a rare occasion for me. I was flipping through the channels and the tech guys were saying something about this drive you could order and it would save all your files. It is called a Clickfree. I bought it and glad I did.  Each week when I think about it I back up my computer.  This past week I thought well really something kept urging me to back up the system.  I did and would you believe the next day I tried to sign on and major problems. If I had not I would have lost everything.  I have learned to listen to my inner person that tells me to do things. So far my inner person has not been wrong.

I thought I was going to have to get a CB radio or Ham Radio to keep up with the world. I was having withdrawals by not being able to connect. It got fixed late this afternoon and I am back and running.

KMM0099 was my dad’s license for CB radio’s that were so popular years ago. We grew up in Piedmont, AL in the 60’s and those radio’s were so popular. Dad along with several other men started the rescue squad there. I remember back then it was popular to meet at each other’s house on Saturday nights and drink coffee and smoke cigarette’s.. YES smoke..  We meaning the children did not get to do that but the grownups did. They would sit around each other’s kitchen tables and solve the worlds problems in a smoky atmosphere.  I used to love to hear dad say “This is KMM0099, come back!”  Gary got me to thinking about it today when he remembered his number and what his CB handle. KFQ9423 Alabama Whitehorse..  I am still laughing at that!!  So for now I am back up and running so the CB or Ham will not be necessary. However it has always been a dream of mine to have a ham radio and my license. Maybe someday..If I get the nerve to take the test. I wish Gary would and I could just listen to him talk all over the world. There is something enchanting about it.

I got to get up and get busy. Postcards calling my names. Hopefully I will get to post later tonight. Plus I am in a mood to do a Wizard of Oz quilt.  I am trying to wait until I go to Knoxville, Tennessee in July to the quilt show to hold off getting in OZ fabric but it is really working on me to go ahead and order some..  I don’t know why but I just need to make one.  Well after IT reads this make 2..  I love you It if you are reading this. xoxoxoxoxox

Whenever we get a few flakes of snow or bad weather across the bottom of the TV screens will be listings of closing and do not get me wrong that is necessary but local radio stations will put aside the regular music for live calls for people asking questions and needing help, etc.  One of the most asked question of the calls will be “Is school closed today?”  Yes I think school will be closed today and the way we react to snow here in Alabama probably tomorrow also. Below you will see pictures of the Wheeler Compound!!  We laugh when we say that.. But it is slowing becoming that.. We are fenced in like it was some government secret operation location.. 

Here in Alabama or probably the South in general we have a saying. When there is not a lot of something we say “Scarce as hens teeth.”  Well it is snowing and for us it is scarce as hens teeth!

We have not seen hardly a flake since the Winter Storm of 1993 That people are still talking about. My home was shut down for 5 days. No heat, no phone,no electricity, hardly any food except canned beans eaten right out of the can. We at that time were total electric. Today we are electric and gas and until a few months ago we had both gas and electric hot water heaters.

When we Alabamians hear snow forecast we head to the stores and wipe out the bread, milk, cheese, lunch meat and egg aisle, schools close, churches close and basically we are totally shut down even if it is an inch of less. For some reason we are totally freaked out of the flakes! We did not wipe out the stores at our house. I already had plenty here at home plus normally when we get the forecast we are so excited only to wake up the next morning more disappointed than a child that did not get what they wanted for Christmas.. Snow in Alabama is scarce as hens teeth UNTIL today. We woke up this morning to a beautiful light blanket of snow. The weather man says we are expected to get 2 to 4 inches. I know you northerner’s are hollering and hooting at us. I can’t blame you.  This would be a welcome to you in view of the tons you are dumped with each year. But please let us just enjoy it if only it is for the day. It is beautiful. Yesterday we were in shorts!
