I am setting the stage!

Dinner party for 10.

You can invite anybody that has ever been in existance.

Think about it all day and tonight post:

1.  Who would you invite?

2.  Why?

3.  What would you serve?

Don’t feel guilty if you don’t want to invite your spouse or family member. This is to be fun and get us thinking who and why..  I have 6 on my list , but I am pondering over the list and I am sure major changes will be made.  No one should say anything nasty about who we choose. It is just a fun thing to do… We should all enjoy who each other picked  and why they did and what they were serving!   NO BASHING PLEASE !

Think about it and post tonight.  Give it some serious thought I am!!

If you are reading this off Facebook  you feel free to post your answers there or leave a comment in the comments box below  on the blog.

Thank you all for participating! I think it will be fun!  Who knows what surprise some lucky person may receive!!!

How to make you own bath salts.  Use what herbs you have growing in your yard.  Get a big glass container with screw on lid. Layer sea salt, herbs, sea salt, herbs in that order and make sure salt is first layer and last layer. Screw lid tightly and put in cool darkest place you have.  Leave for a couple of weeks or months for that matter. Take the jar out and remove all herbs.  Put the great smelling salts in decorative jars and screw lid on and these make wonderful gifts.

100_5592

We had just been to a birthday party for our Aunt Elsie who turned 90. She looks and acts like she is 50! One of the smartest women I know.  Very kind and still raising two boys who are her grandchildren.  I hope when I am 90 I am as fun, smart and caring as she is! I hope she is around for another 90.

We hardly are dressed up and much less where somebody can take our picture.  Aunt Jan made this one of us.  I still think Gary is so handsome!!  He said in this picture he looked like a dork! I don’t think so!  The pin I have on is over 80 years old. It was Gary’s grandmother Mae’s .  I love it..It is those big old rhinestone pins! I will show a better picture of it later.

How Lane Cake Got It’s Name

Sunday, November 22nd, 2009

I have had so many people ask me how Lane Cake got its name I decided to do a search and this is what I found out!

Lane Cake is an incredibly rich butter cake, almost a pound cake, with an intense bourbon filling. This cake is not for the faint of Heart! This Southern tradition gets it name from Emma Rylander Lane of Clayton, Alabama , who won a price for it in the State Fair. She first published the recipe under the name “Prize Cake” in her 1898 cookbook “Some Good Things To Eat.” This cake MUST be made from scratch; you cannot substitute a mix in any way. And if you substitute anything else for the bourbon, you do not call it a Lane Cake.
I got the above by googling Lane Cake.
