This quilt was the first quilt I entered in local competition. I won 3rd place. I was so proud. It was made for Aunt Janice. She was so happy when she came and saw her name on the quilt. She still has it and loves it. I call this quilt “There’s one in every crowd!” The reason, when I was making it I was so careful to keep each blade in order. Brown, Green, Yellow and so forth. Only one of the blocks I got out of order. Only one… I did not realize it until I had the quilt put together. So naturally, there has to be one in every crowd. Aunt Jan won’t look for it or won’t let me show her where it is. She said she has never noticed and if she does know her eye will go to there everytime!!! So I have not told.

My First Quilt I Entered In A Competition
Sunday, December 20th, 2009LeAnna’s Butterfly Quilt
Thursday, December 17th, 2009I made this quilt for my niece, LeAnna. I just loved it.. When I found the pattern I just knew I had to make it for her. It was real simple. Just cut out the butterfly wings, put them in a paper sack and pull out the pieces out of the sack and go to sewing. I tried that technique because my brain always wants to match and I wanted to work “out of the box,” on this one! I love the way it turned out. It won a ribbon at Mt. Olive Quilt Show a couple of years ago. I think after I get some projects that are pressing finished I will make another one these. You can click on the pictures to see a closer view!
Tommy’s Quilt
Sunday, December 13th, 2009I wanted to make my brother Tommy a quilt. I thought about it for a long time until I found the right pattern. I really enjoyed making it. Especially the log cabin. I took alot of different colored strips in the brownish family and sewed them together and then cut out the log cabin. I even have mosquito’s and fishing bobbers on this quilt. He loved it.. He called and said all the years our mother quilted he never got one of hers and now he has one of his own. It made me cry. Be sure to click on the pictures to see larger size view and you will get to see all the neat parts of this quilt. I may try to make another one some day!
Quilt For My Great Niece
Saturday, December 12th, 2009
My niece Sarah had a child. She wanted a quilt with fawns on it. Well they are hard to find except Bambi. I searched online and found some vintage Bambi fabric. I found it on eBay. I think used some more colors that I had here in the colors she wanted. I finally got it in the mail this week. I hope they like it. It was for my great niece Kaylee.

Grandmother’s Fan Quilt Part 1
Monday, October 19th, 2009I will be starting on one this weekend. I bought the fabric I needed today in order to get started. We have a great JoAnn’s fabrics in Hoover, Alabama.
The request for this quilt was purples, teals and sage green with beige. I decided to use the beige for the background. Tomorrow when I can get a good light I will make a picture of the fabric. In fact I am going to blog about this until it is finished. Later on I will tell you who it is for!
This quilt will consist of 63 9 1/2 inch blocks. I also have a sports quilt to do for someone. I will post pictures and updates on that one. I need to get busy and put my nose to the grindstone for the next few months! With the orders I have had for a while and all the postcards I have to make and help someone with a pattern design of theirs. I do not have time for anything else! I love being busy.. I am my happiest when I am swamped with work and can not see the light at the end of the tunnel.

Meet Marsha and her Quilts.
Monday, October 5th, 2009I love doll quilts and minature quilts. I made this one several years ago out of some old feedsack squares. Marsha loves it and so does her trusty dog Fred. She is my spokes model for all my minature quilts.
If any of you like doll or minature quilts click on the button on the right for Fall Swap and read all about being in a swap to receive a doll quilt. I have received two and they are awesome.
My First!! Please Don’t Laugh..I am ashamed!
Thursday, October 1st, 2009Hey I bet your thought I was going to post my first boyfriend. Remember your first love.. You thought they were so perfect, gorgeous and you were totally in love. Well this is my first quilt in the early 70’s.. I was totally in love, thought it was perfect and gorgeous!! NOPE.. my first quilt as an adult, now totally horrible! As a child I messed around making my doll quilts and quilting with my two old maid aunts, but I never completed something as big as a bed quilt. Here is another example of the Tri-Chem Paint project. I made it a disaster. I used a coloring book to get the Disney characters, painted it and mother hand quilted it. YES HAND QUILTED on a frame!! I sure have come a long way since about 1974!
click on for a more hideous picture! Mother bless her, sure did not quilt in a straight line!! The black quilters also do not quilt in a straight line. They don’t want the devil to find them. Maybe she did not want him to find her! The white background is a sheet!!!

This is a Lewis and Clark quilt I made from a Block of the Month from Hancock Fabrics. I enjoyed making this quilt. I did add extra things to it.. The arrowheads for one.. By the time I got through sewing them on the quilt I was almost cross-eyed! You can see better views of it on my website www.welovequilting.com
