I was just now on Facebook discussing quilt backings. I have decided that when I make a quilt top I am going to make a really simple back either Turning Twenty or some other easy design for the back. That way you get tired of the front you can flip it over and have another nice quilt. For example you could put a Christmas design on the front and a Thanksgiving on the back. Easter on the front, 4th of July on the back. Two in one!

Well I no more got that out of my mouth when I got an email. It it was a free quilt pattern from McCalls Quilting and it will work perfect. The pattern is for a twin but any person that quilts can adjust it to the size they need.

I am amazed that when I need the answer for something it always comes to me. Somebody must be looking out for me!

Ok first I have some explaining. I RARELY read fiction. I am a true story, history, craft, murder, gossip lady!!! I just do not care for fiction. WELL one day on a site I get emails from www.pixelofink.com I was offered a free book. “Trouble In Mudbug” was the name. Oh the cover was cute with a red country looking truck and it looked like I could struggle through it. STRUGGLE TO PUT IT DOWN is more like it.. I fell in love that day with the Ghost In Law Series by Jana DeLeon.

I am going to give you the link where you can go and read about the books and Jana. You see I have a hard time telling people about books and movies. I start out like “Well there was this lady that climbed out of a coffin during her funeral and only appeared to her daughter in law and then all you know what broke loose and you just need to read it you will like it.” I never have been able to explain. So here just go to Jana’s site and look at the books and read the description and order them. You can get a special on Amazon for your Kindle. Some will say “I do not have a Kindle.” Yes you do. If you have a computer you have a Kindle. If you have an Ipad you have a Kindle. You can load the Kindle to your device. Sometimes I sit here on the couch reading books on my computer.

Here is the site then go to www.amazon.com and order the books. I promise you will not be sorry. Like I said in the beginning I despised fiction. Oh how I love this fiction. It kept me so occupied that my hubby did not hear a peep out of me. We went on a trip and I did not say two words the entire time. I was busy reading.

Click here http://janadeleon.com and you can click bookstore and order the books from there and they will be autographed. Dang that is awesome!!!

I tell you what I will make this a give a way because I love the books so much I want you to read them. Just enter . You do not have to do anything well one thing. When you read the book you pass it on to someone else to read. This is about the funniest, exciting, action packed books. I love them. Just enter in the comments and I will go ahead and get you the first book. Hope you win.. I will pick the winner 4th of July!!! AND I FORGOT TO TELL YOU .. a message from Jana. But never fear your copy I am giving away to one lucky winner will be autographed from Jana and as always I’ll include some extra goodies for you.

Please remember to send me an email through my
website contact form if you are interested in having your copies autographed.

I get a lot of good emails daily. This is something I plan on trying. www.thedollarstretcher.com is a good place to go for great ideas on making your money last. This was the article I got on my Facebook today.

Tuesday’s TDS Money-Saving Tip
Why I Use Cloth Napkins

I started using cloth napkins, not out of frugality, but because I like the texture of 100% double-ply cotton fabric napkins. But, it is a frugal choice as well. When my first child was born, I made about a dozen napkins in “kid prints.” I liked them so much that I’ve subsequently made about three dozen more! We use them every day. (I wash them in the same load as dishtowels and kitchen washcloths.)

It takes around ten minutes to stitch up one napkin. I construct the napkins by cutting squares of fabric right sides together (15″ squares work fine.) Then, I put two squares together and stitch up three sides. Turn. Press, folding under the last raw edge. Topstitch all four sides.

These napkins last a long, long time. The ones I made eight years ago are still in use, and I haven’t noticed any frayed edges.

We’ve had fun with creative designs, too. We’ve got napkins I made from all kinds of fabric (or fabric scraps).
JoAnn

editor’s question: Would you be willing to try using cloth napkins on a daily basis?

My note… I am planning on changing colors in my bathroom and it is time to get new towels. I am taking my old towels and making some napkins out of them. I will keep you posted on how it worka. I may just cut out my square and turn it under and hem it. After all a piece of terry cloth will be thick enough. I may even sew around the square without hemming it and just use my pinking shears. Oh how many ideas can I think of.

This has nothing to do with the napkins but when my washcloths get worn pretty good over the years I always put them up under the kitchen sink and bathroom sink and that is what I use to dust with or clean the bathrooms with. Throw in washer and save paper towels. It just occurred to me why not buy the same colored bath cloths and use them for napkins. You can always find them pretty reasonable at stores like the Dollar Tree and use those only for napkins. Oh the ideas go on forever!

It will only be about 70 more days or so that we hear crowds roaring and cheerleaders cheering.. “Block that punt!” Me swearing because I get so tired of football. So I need to be finding me something to do to keep my mind off sports.

It brought something to mind and it did not hurt I found something in my email to help me out. You see I can knit. One thing dishcloths. Nothing wrong with that. They come in handy. I knit some for the kitchen and some for the bathroom to bathe with.

Today in my email I got a freebie from Red Heart about blocking your item to make it look better. You can see all the information here.

http://www.redheart.com/blog/blocking-finishing-touch

Good luck with your projects and I am going to be taking classes soon to venture out in my knitting.

AND…. I do not post much in the summer months. Fun and yard work takes over. But check back weekly at least. You never know.

I knew this would grab your attention. No I have not been bitten by a snake and I do not plan on it. This time of the year I am aware of my surroundings. We have killed two copperheads so far this year and I am sure since we do live out in the country there are more lurking around but I keep the yard clean and have nothing down for them to hide in.

I was listening to one of the popular shows on TV.. I want to say America Now. They told something that I have not thought of before. When you are bit by a snake do not run to the nearest hospital. First try to determine the type of snake. It is poison or non poison. You can google snakes in your state and see what is bad and what is not. How to determine poison. If you can kill it then that is even better. You have the snake so no guessing.

Then while you are calling 911 call the Poison Control in your area. The number is the same for EVERY STATE . It is 1-800-222-1222. Put that somewhere that you can find it without having to look for it. Why do you need to call poison control? That was the same question I asked.

Poison Control can tell you what hospital to go to in your area that has venom. Not all has it and you do not want to be at a hospital only to find out they do not have it and you should have gone somewhere across town. Your time is limited so you need to know where to have the ambulance to carry you.

ALSO the old way of cutting the bite and sucking out the poison. DO NOT DO THIS. If the person doing it has a sore or some place it can enter their body now you have two injured. CALL 911 AND CALL POISON CONTROL IMMEDIATELY!

I hope no one including us gets bit but if we do now we know what to do .
