October Breast Cancer Awareness Month

Would someone please find a cure before I grow boobs!

On a serious note. October is Breast Cancer Awareness Month. Please if you need a mammogram and have not gotten yours for the year or ever had one. Do so.  When my mother was 49 she developed breast cancer. It could not be felt and she did not have a clue that she had it. The doctor suggested she get a mammogram and it was there. The size of a pencil eraser. She had to have a masectomy. When she turned 59 cancer came back in other forms. She lived 6 months. Died at 60.  I am 56 soon to be 57 and when I think that two years from now I will be the same age as when my mother got sick again it concerns me. So yes I get mammograms and other test yearly. But breast cancer is very scary and I hope you all do what you can to prevent it.  You can read more about it here at  http://www.nbcam.org/

And during the month of October, if you have no insurance, mammograms are $99 at the St. Vincent’s Women’s Health Center in Birmingham (AL). 205-939-7003
