Never too early for thinking about your Christmas projects. Thank you Accuquilt!
Today started out early this morning I decided to go out and clean out the garage where we park our lawnmowers. Precious ( Gary) back has been hurting and we are trying to get it well so he did help some but I would not let him do the real heavy work. I was worn out. He did help me a lot.
I was like WTH? What is that thing on the left side of my pictures? A hand ? A heart? Fennel. Never heard of it. I eat with my eyes. Not literally but I am like a real picky kid. If it looks weird or something I dont think I will like I dont eat it. So far I have eaten everything we have received. I am trying to get out of the box and try new things.
Ok fresh Cilantro came with the meal. I can not tolerate anything but Penzeys Cilantro. I am sorry it has nothing to do with any company or any restaurant. It has to do with my DNA. Seriously that is one thing I found out when I took a 23 and Me DNA test along with a DNA from Ancestry.I just knew they mixed up my results with someone else so I took two. Nope got it right first time. One of the things I learned is my DNA does not like Cilantro.
I had to zest one and juice both. So far no zesting knuckles. Granny is smiling down at me. Her baby is using her juicer. I love you Sadie Mae and miss you. I dont want to see you for at least 60 more years!
Mix resting quite nicely. I think I may put a tiny bit too much lime juice in it but it did taste good.
My beautiful neighbor Ali who loves to eat and does not gain an ounce told me about this salt and pepper shaker and I bought it .. I am sure glad. She was with me the day we picked it out. It really works wonderful. Thank you sweetie.
She is a beautiful, smart, sweet young lady. I just adore her! Her mother and I share custody!! Her brother Luke is my helper around the house. I was so glad to see him this week working around the pond. Very good young people. She is beautiful inside and out and very talented. She paints my Apple Watch bands. I have one of a kind. I have about 20 more to give her!!! Don’t fuss. You know I love ya little girl.
Ok you can’t cut yourself with these gloves. The are to use with my mandolin. (Slicer) which I never have used but I have it if I need it. After fighting yesterday with the weedeater and the weedeater won I decided not to hurt my sewing hands. Which I do not get much sewing done in the summer. Between yard work, cleaning out things that need to be cleaned and now cooking I am one busy chick!
I used some of my Oregano oil mixed with coconut oil. The Oregano oil was from Young Living. Today my leg already looks better. I will put some more on before I go to bed. It is really some good stuff.
My Precious just woke up from a tiny nap. Note the hair style. He has on my favorite T-shirt. We got it in Key West years ago. I think it was at the Conch Restaurant. I wonder if that place is still there. Precious and I have been married 30 years this past June.
I dont have a clue why we are sideways. Just turn your head. We had been married two months. My gosh what time does to you!!!! Dang it I hate it I can not figure out how to flip!
I could not get everything in one pan.
Luckily I had another one.
My mother in laws plates. We ate off them at her home all the time. I got them when she went to Heaven. I have a yard full of Zinnia’s and until tonight I did not realize the plates were Zinnia pattern.
I am not a fan of salmon. I will eat it but I am a fan of Precious. He loves it. It was really good.
The squash smelled so good.
We have enough for tomorrow night. I will just warm up the Salmon that is left which is one whole piece and cook the veggies. It won’t take 10 minutes total and dinner will be ready. Then our next shipment will be next Tuesday. It can’t come fast enough.
Use the special link below and you get $35.00 off your first order. Also you can quit anytime which I doubt you will and if anything is wrong you can let the company know and they will fix it. The food is organic and so very good. I am a dummy on cooking. I would wake up in the morning and before my eyes opened I started stressing what I am going to cook that evening. Well I dont have to worry about that but for three days. I got a system worked out. One of those days eat out, then hamburger on the grill and some type of sandwich unless I can figure out two nights eating out.. However I will say it is less expensive to just order one more meal from Sunbasket. I am getting two now and that is 4 meals. There is so much with one meal you can make it last two nights. This winter when we hate to get outside in the cold I think I will go to three.
We will order this again but first we are going to eat our way through everything Sun Basket has to offer so that will take a long time! I’ll keep you posted. Maybe tomorrow I’ll be back sewing and using my Brother Dream Machine. I am going to be at a Blount County Quilters Quild Show in October. I have to get busy!
Ingredients came in this sack or poke as we say in the South. I am using it for my garbage can. If you look to the right you can see my helpers head. I gave him a break. I let him watch NYPD as I cooked. Truth be known he is napping like he is now!!!
This pan looks horrible. Yes it is clean, yes it is old. It is older than me!!! It was my Granny’s biscuit pan. I am sixty three and I remember seeing her use the pan when I was a small child. It is not dirty it is just worn. I could not part with it. Well make an offer!
I am sucking on photo’s today.
Quinoa on the stove. It matches our granite. Our stove is four years old and so clean. I love a clean stove. Sometimes I turn all the eyes on when I am cooking for just a minute and I rotate which eye I use when I only have one pot. In Feng Shui that signifies prosperity burning all the gas eyes for a minute. I want to do all I can to stay in line with my Feng Shui. On some areas I slipped some but I am trying to get back on track.
Lord please do not let me find a worm. I remember sitting on my Granny’s front porch shucking corn scared to no end there was going to be a worm when I pulled back the silk. There was not one this time thank goodness.
SunBasket even gave instructions on how to cut corn off the cob. I was thinking about saving the cob for a pipe and then I remember after my 30 plus years of genealogy research one of my grandmothers lived to be over 100. She would have lived a lot longer but she bent over to light her corn cob pipe and fell in the fire to her death!! I kid you not. She was on the Fitzpatrick side if I am not mistaken. I think her name was Sarah Perry. I am just calling that from memory but I have her story. Her husband was Abner Perry.
I love our clean pretty kitchen. By accident I found out how to keep your stainless steel looking good. I do not have the kind that does not show fingerprints. I have the kind of stainless steel that shows everything. I was wiping off the counters and faucets with my Clorox wipes and I saw something on the refrigerator. I swiped over it and it looked so good I cleaned everything with the wipes. The dishwasher looks wonderful. No finger prints no water stains.. CLOROX WIPES my new stainless cleaner. It is amazing how by accident you find something that works. I have been up early in the morning can not sleep cleaning it with mineral oil. Now the wipes are my best friend.
I have never been what you call anything but a cornbread, greens, potato, beans type of cook. I do however love gadgets. I would see something and buy it and say “I’ll need it one day.” Well you know this day has finally come. I am using tools I have had for years. I am glad I got it so I’ll have it when I need it!
It all looks so pretty and smells go good.
Precious plate. We had enough to have again tomorrow night and I am looking forward to Thursday night for the second selection we received! Stay tuned!
After I posted my previous article I found this tutorial for a very easy Cathedral Window Quilt. I have a full bolt of muslin I bought years ago to make these by hand. I cut out some of the squares GOT SO BORED fingers hurting so badly so I plan on making some using other fabrics and I will use the muslin for doll quilts backing.
There is even a tutorial on the site with Jenny Doan. Missouri Star Quilt Company.
I do not know how I stumbled on this site but it is awesome. Gives you all kinds of patterns. If you do not sign up to get a daily email you are really missing out. FREE PATTERNS. That is what I love. I do not have to spend my money to purchase a pattern to only use once.
Halloween is fast approaching. It is one of my favorite times of the year. You can pretend to be something you are not.
Here is a great pattern and it looks very easy. Halloween table runner. Enjoy
I decided to day to give you all a treat. NO GOWN!! We had an eye appointment, well Precious did and I decided to start out cooking in my regular clothes. Trying not to scare away my readers. Precious is not a great photographer and I am not really one that likes to get my picture taken so he snapped me at an inconvenient look but that is ok, that is my normal smirky look! Plus I was laughing at him.
My Biltmore knife and lemon on the grater. I love the smell of lemon and lime when it is being turned in to zest. I guess that is what you call it.
Smelled so good.
Thank you Granny I sure have been using your vintage juicer!
Little Precious working on a project.
There is lots of goodies in the paper sack.
I hate garlic but I decided I was going to use it anyway. At least it will ward off the vampires. It turned out pretty good.
I don’t know why this is sideways, just turn your head.
Ingredients almost ready. That is ginger in the background. It smells so good.
I have two friends gonna love my spatula.
Hey Deb, hey Lisa.
Stirring up a storm! It smelled so good. I had some lemon juice left and I took the plunge and added it and it was the perfect amount.
The instructions called for any kind of oil you wanted to use to cook the steaks, I save bacon grease in refrigerator. I do not pour down the sink and I wait until the bowl if full and if I am not going to use any I put in garbage can without a mess. I decided to cook the steaks in some bacon grease. I AM GLAD I DID THAT! Very good.
A friend came to visit one time with her husband to teach me how to make egg rolls. She said “For someone who does not cook you have everything.” Half the items I do not have a clue what they are for I just knew one day I would need them.
When it was time to chop the nuts I tried to chop with knife and they rolled all over the counter to the floor and I was like what am I going to do??? Well I forgot I had this chopper thing.. Worked like a charm.
They were smelling so good I almost just ate them out of the skillet and forgot about the rest. Cooking them in cast iron with some bacon grease oh my! I do not think we have used our grill much this year. We will water till fall!
Ok.. A few weeks ago I had to stir fry grapes and blister tomatoes and I was like “I don’t think so “but I did. Today I had to fry peach slices and onion in the oil that the steaks were cooked in. One side of me said “dont do it” one side said “you better do it.” I DID. I am glad it is good.
It was good. I am so happy with SunBasket.com . I can not wait until Tuesday for our next two orders.
I do not quilt as much as I used to. I am now involved in trying to learn how to quilt on the Long Arm and then also my Brother Dream Machine with all the embroidery features.
There are a few quillts I want to make again and this Dizzy Daisy is one. I will get back to the quilt making this winter. Summer is grass cutting four acres and sometimes six more and fun times going places. Oh and I forgot flower bed keeping the weeds out. I work on our flower bed daily. One week pops up it goes.
Plus I am learning to cook. Yes I am in my 60’s and I have always sucked at cooking but I discovered this easy online service and the food is great. Later on today there will be a blog post with my second adventure.
